"Cardon-Barbon Flower" monotype 16.5"x13.5"

I'm trying to get the general feel of the cactus with out saying too much. They are so interesting with all their spines and ribs not to mention the flowers. I strugle not to paint it all.

I'm completely fascinated by the cactus down here. The large Caldron Cactus is blooming now with beautiful white flowers. I'm working on a couple of paintings trying to capture the blooms and the wonderful pattern of the spines. We'll see how it all works out. I'll post as I get them done.

I decided to do another one of this scene as I was not happy with the first one. This one got a little too bright. Better luck next time maybe.

"Cactus II" Monotype

This is the finished painting. I'm not sure about it. I'm really trying to simplify but it's hard when my left brain gets in the way.
